Mrs. Erma Jean Carroll – Belle Vernon

Mrs. Erma Jean Carroll, 87, of Belle Vernon, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021, at the Residence at Hilltop, Monongahela.  Erma was a daughter of the late Abner and Mildred Tustin Tharp and was born on Aug. 20, 1933. She graduated from Waynesburg High School. Erma was a homemaker and an active member of the Monessen United Methodist Church. An avid crafter, she loved sewing and cross stitching. Her favorite church activities were crafting with the Methodist Women’s Association and participating in the church’s rummage sales. Erma’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Dennis and wife Sandy Carroll of Monessen and Linda and husband Rich Gillock of Belle Vernon; three grandchildren and a stepgranddaughter, Cami and Jason Plymire of Belle Vernon, Robert and Nicole Carroll of Sewickley and Christine and Stephan Schmidt of Pittsburgh, and Kelly Bavuso of Belle Vernon; five great-grandsons, Lucas and Zachary Plymire, Felix and Oliver Schmidt and Peter Miller; sisters, Martha Grim, Sara and Orville King; sister-in-law, Carol Tharp; and a host of other devoted family and friends. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carroll; and her brothers, Raymond and Robert Tharp; and in-laws Ester and Archie Clark and Grove and Rosadel Carroll. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of the service, Monday, March 29, 2021, with Pastor Sandy Fitzgibbons officiating.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Monessen United Methodist Church, or the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
