As the fall football season progressed and Elizabeth Forward inched closer to an appearance in its first WPIAL championship game, head coach Mike Collodi didn’t hesitate to use Nico Mrvos in different ways.
Whether he was under center, ready to take a handoff from quarterback Zion White or lined up outside to block or catch a pass, Mrvos was capable of impacting a game in more ways than one.
“In my six years at EF, Nico is the most dynamic player that I’ve coached,” Collodi said of Mrvos in November. “He is so dynamic that we plug him in wherever we need him and he creates mismatches no matter what he’s doing.”
A “Swiss Army Knife” of sorts, Mrvos has proven to be a capable weapon at the high school level.
Now, he’ll look to do the same thing when he continues his academic and football careers at Division II Edinboro University.
Mrvos will play for head coach Jake Nulph, who was hired to take over the program last year.
“I am very excited to start my new chapter and I can’t wait to go up there this summer,” said Mrvos, the son of Marc and Meighan Mrvos of Mount Vernon. “This has been my goal since my freshman year. It means everything to me.”
