David R. Blacka Sr. Rostraver Township

David R. Blacka Sr., 78, of Rostraver Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in his home. Born in Fairhope on Nov. 5, 1942, he was the son of the late John Sr. and Edna Marie Stein Blacka. A U.S. Army veteran during in the Vietnam era, Dave was a member of Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and on the building and maintenance committee. He had been employed at Freeport Transport for many years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jannine Demers Blacka; a son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Elizabeth Blacka of Quezon City, Philippines; and a granddaughter, Dael Blacka. David also leaves behind his beloved schnauzer, Heidi, who always laid by his bed the past six months. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Blacka, Dr. Alan Blacka and John Blacka Jr.; and a sister, Frances Marie Monack. The family would like to thank the Amedysis Hospice staff for the excellent care and support. They are true angels. We also would like to thank Monongahela Valley Hospital staff, Dr. Pepper, Dr. Miller and Dr. Aneja, for their wonderful care. At David’s request, there will be no viewing due to the COVID-19 restrictions. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
