COVID-19 numbers still rising

The state’s number of new COVID-19 cases saw an uptick last week and now the hospitalizations are following the trend.

New COVID cases also continue to tick upward as Allegheny County reported an increase of 364 Tuesday. It was the third time in seven days the number of new cases has hit 300 or more.

In Allegheny County, there have been 82,444 cases and 1,783 deaths. There have been six fatalities since Friday and 1,157 new cases in the same four days.

There are 177 patients hospitalized in Allegheny County, an increase of 31 since Friday, with 42 of in an ICU, an increase of nine. Of those, 23 are on ventilators, which represents an increase of five patients. There are 93 ICU beds available in the county. 

Statewide, there have been 991,950 cases and 24,828 fatalities, an increase of 11,648 cases since Friday with 87 new deaths.

There are 1,631 COVID patients hospitalized statewide, an increase of 83 since Friday. Of those, 341 are in an ICU, an increase of 24, and 185 are on ventilators, an increase of 15.
