Hollywood has long been the nation’s hub for film production, but state Sen. Camera Bartolotta is hoping to create new incentives to bring more productions, more jobs and more of the magic of Tinseltown to Pennsylvania.
Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township, earlier this month introduced Senate Bill 321, also known as the Film Industry Incentive Bill of 2021.
If passed, it would increase Pennsylvania’s film industry incentive from $70 million to $125 million and would allow the state to attract more film and television projects that Bartolotta says cannot be supported by the program’s current funding level.
Pittsburgh Film Office Director Dawn Keezer said the state’s current film tax credit program was created 15 years ago and is “woefully underfunded.”
That’s why she is “thrilled and pleased” Bartolotta has introduced the bill and is working in a bipartisan manner to get it passed.
