Harris, Goodwin sign new deals to remain in NFL
By the Mon Valley Independent
Erik Harris has had quite a journey en route to the NFL.
The former California University of Pennsylvania standout was a walk on with the Vulcans before working at UPS and a potato chip factory.
He eventually played in the CFL and received an opportunity in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders where he experienced his share of adversity, including injuries to his ACL and both meniscus.
Harris highlighted those steps in his journey as an NFL player and thanked the Raiders organization via a Twitter post Thursday after signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
The safety spent the last four seasons with the Raiders, starting 30 games and registering five interceptions.
“The Raiders took a chance on me when others wouldn’t,” Harris said in his post. “They believed in me, when no one did. And for that, I am forever grateful.”
