Once Belle Vernon freshman Quinton Martin picked up his first Division I football offer from Pitt back in November, it seemed as if it was only a matter of time before the floodgates began to open.

On Tuesday, two more poured in for Martin as he announced Power 5 scholarship offers from West Virginia University and Virginia Tech.

“It honestly feels unreal already having three big Division I offers,” Martin said. “People always told me I was gonna be good, but I never expected it to be like this. It’s only the beginning.”

Martin, who also made an impact on the basketball court for head coach Joe Salvino this winter, made his presence felt right away on the gridiron.

Playing under Matt Humbert, Martin spent time at running back, wide receiver and defensive back for the Leopards.

He rushed for over 400 yards and six touchdowns, while adding a pair of scoring receptions. On defense, he had 15 tackles and an interception.

“I have never put that much stock or faith in a 14-year-old kid, but every week he just impresses me with his level of maturity,” Humbert said of Martin after a game against Trinity in October. “He is just special in every aspect.”

In the fall, Martin was a big reason behind BV’s success, which included a deep WPIAL playoff run.

But as he progresses in his high school career, Martin wants to continue to improve and work on adding more offers to his already impressive list.

“It gives me so much more motivation to keep grinding with these offers on the table and grind for way more,” said the 6-3, 180-pound frosh. “Going to the gym has been a very big thing for me lately to get bigger and stronger, so when I am ready to make a decision, I’m not as skinny as I am now.”
