Residents in Monongahela will see a familiar store return to the area this summer.
The Washington City Mission recently announced its plans to open a new store in the city in July, and crews have already begun renovations to the new storefront, which will be located at 211 W. Main St.
The announcement comes just months after City Mission closed a previous store in the city.
According to City Mission’s Senior Director of Hope Enterprise Mark Vinoverski, the store closed in October because the building was sold to a new owner.
“Since that point, we had been looking for another location,” Vinoverski said. “We found this new location and purchased the building. It’s the size I needed and had been vacant for years. We like the area and customers keep asking when we are coming back.”
Vinoverski said the next three months will be used to renovate the 6,800-square-foot space, and June and July will be spent stocking inventory and getting the shelves ready for the grand opening some time in mid-July.
The previous store’s manager, Charmaine Benton, will return to manage the new location.
