June Briggs, 86, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021, in Washington Hospital. The daughter of the late Milan and Martha Nozier Gatalica, June was born on June 19, 1934, in Brownstone, Pa. Known as “June Bug,” she worked numerous jobs throughout her life, but was most proud of being known as the cook at Don’s Barbeque on McKean Avenue in Charleroi. June was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi, a founding member of the Ladies Quilters Club at the Presbyterian Church and was an active member for the Ladies Auxiliary at the Belgian, Polish and Lithuanian clubs. June is survived by her daughter, Vicki Briggs of Charleroi, with whom she made her home; her daughter, Terri (Kevin) Miracle of Gibsonia; her sister, Pauline (Kenneth, deceased) Laskey of Charleroi; grandchildren, Zachary and Emily Miracle; her dear friend, who was a son to her, Albert Monack; grand-kitty, Mylo; and numerous nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her husband, David “Junior” Briggs; her sister, Nesbit Yakovich; and her brothers, George and Dennis Gatalica. At the family’s request there will be no public viewing or services at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC.
