Edith M. Katchmark McQuillis – Newell

Edith M. Katchmark McQuillis, 78, of Newell, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born Feb. 15, 1943, in Pricedale, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Teresa Popovich Katchmark. A resident of Newell for the past 35 years, Edith was a retired retail store manager for Abby’s Hallmark, Tri-County Plaza, worked in the jewelry department at the former Kmart and recently worked as a clerk at Gene & Boots Candy in Perryopolis. She enjoyed traveling to the Amish country, especially Lancaster, and most of all working and talking with people. She is survived by her husband, Dale R. McQuillis, to whom she was married 60 years; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Robert Staley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Dorothy McQuillis, Richard and Kathy McQuillis, and Timothy and Jean McQuillis; sister, Pearl Snyder of Belle Vernon; seven grandchildren, Bobby Staley, Dale and Alyssa A. McQuillis, Kellie and Derrick Breegle, Timothy and Jessica McQuillis, Joshua McQuillis, Shayne McQuillis, Ian McQuillis; six great-grandchildren, Allen McQuillis, Albert McQuillis, Mason McQuillis, Donnie Breegle, Lilly Breegle, Leo Breegle and Riley McQuillis (coming soon in May). She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Katchmark; five sisters, Pauline Cummins, Katherine Hamilton, Dorothy Hathaway, Betty Ambler and Mary Anne Ercegovich. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
