Dale G. “Babe” Weightman, 83, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington. The son of the late Thomas and Clara Hildebrand Weightman, he was born in North Charleroi on July 11, 1937. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Dale was a member of First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon, East Belle Vernon Athletic Club, Musical Society of Belle Vernon and the Belle Vernon Lions Club. In 2002, Babe was inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame. He was a self-employed contractor for 30 years until his retirement in 2005. He is survived by a daughter, Amy DeWitt of Rostraver Township; two sons, Ed (Roxanne) Weightman of Brownsville and Todd Weightman of North Belle Vernon; seven grandchildren, Ed Weightman Jr., Alisha Weightman, Krystal Weightman, Todd Weightman Jr., Bobby Suppra, Phaedra DeWitt and Hunter Meade; and seven great-grandchildren, Casey Ann, Cole, Abigail, Giovani, Kataira, Kaylx and Savvy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Gray Weightman in 2003; two brothers, Ralph and William Weightman; his sister, Florence Shenos; and a grandson, Eric Weightman, in 2004. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Beverly Gross officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Face masks are required in the funeral home.
