Michele “Mickie” Baron Cope, 71, of Belle Vernon, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Mon Valley Care Center, Carroll Township. Born May 20, 1949 in North Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary D. Talpas Baron. Mickie attended Most Holy Name of Jesus Parochial school and graduated from Mon Valley Catholic High School, Class of 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, where she had served as extraordinary minister, lector and was the parish secretary until her retirement in 2014 after 32 years of service. She was also member of FCSLA and Slovak Catholic Sokols Club. She is survived by her children, Dan Cope and wife Nicole of Rostraver Township, Christie Cope Thompson and fiancé, Rick Nagel of Rostraver Township; grandchildren, Aiden Thompson and Halley Cope; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Cope of North Belle Vernon and her children and grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jeri and James Roman of Monongahela; aunt, Cecilia Kubik of North Versailles; several nieces, nephews; and many beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Neil B. Cope on July, 16, 2019; and her sister, Carol Ann Baron on Nov. 4, 2017. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 13, at the funeral home with the Rev. William Berkey officiating. The family would also wish to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of the second floor at Mon Valley Care Center and the OSPTA Hospice Staff for all of their love and care given to Mom.
