Ernestine Effie Taylor, better known to her family and friends as “Aunt Petey” and “Petey Girl,” died March 4, 2021. She was born in Monongahela in 1933, the seventh child of the late Ernest Mitchell Taylor and Eva Mae Taylor. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Robinson; a grandson, Malik Jeremiah Robinson Sloan; two brothers, Robert H. Taylor and Charles Taylor; four sisters, Betty Louise Halloway, Mary Frances Logan, Alliene Lewis and Tilitha Reynolds. Ernestine was a graduate of Donora High School and after graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. While living in New York, she worked at Sydenham Hospital in Harlem as a nurse assistant. While working as a nursing assistant, she trained to become a registered nurse. After receiving her certification as a registered nurse of the State of New York, she continued working at the hospital and later transferring over to Sydenham Health Clinic, where she worked up until the time of her retirement in 1984. After retiring, she moved back to her hometown of Donora. She became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where she served on the Women’s Usher Board. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing cards and going to bingo. THERE’S NO LOVE LIKE THE LOVE OF A REAL MOTHER. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son; Louis F. Robinson of Pittsburgh; daughter, Maxine Taylor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. My mother always told me, “Son always put something away for a rainy day.” Well it’s a rainy day today, but the Lord has assured me that Joy will come in the Morning and the Sun will Shine again. Visitation will be at St. Paul Baptist Church, 49 S. McKean Ave, Donora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 with Pastor Rev. Lee Haney, officiating. Final celebration has been gently placed in the hands of HOUSE OF JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 546 Thompson Ave., Donora, PA, Karl Jackson, Funeral Director, 724-379-5420.
