Elizabeth Forward sets commencement dates

Graduation plans for Elizabeth Forward seniors include a rain date this year in an effort to allow as many people to attend as safely as possible.
Superintendent Dr. Todd Keruskin said graduation is currently set for June 10 at Warrior Stadium with a rain date of June 11 at the stadium. If that second date is rained out, Keruskin said the plan is to hold graduation indoors with limited seating.
“We’ve never had a rain date before, so we wanted parents to know if they have people flying in, that it could happen one of two days,” Keruskin said.
Keruskin was asked if June 12 could be considered if it rains both Thursday and Friday, but Keruskin said the scheduling goes beyond the weather.
“Friday is the last work day for teachers and I need the manpower,” Keruskin said.
Keruskin said outdoor ceremonies have been held in the rain, but it presents challenges.
Keruskin said 122 EF staff members will be getting the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine within the next eight days, which is enough to cover all of the middle school, elementary school and special education staff. Keruskin said the vaccine is being provided through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and will be administered by members of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
