Madeline L. ‘Shorty’ Oblak – West Newton

Madeline L. “Shorty” Oblak, 82, of West Newton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2021. She was born Oct. 6, 1938, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Cyril and Alice Seighman Deruelle. Shorty was a member of First Baptist Church, West Newton. She enjoyed playing the organ and accordion and loved polka music. In addition to her parents, Shorty was preceded in death by her first husband, James K. “Chunk” Wilson; her second husband, Edgar Oblak; brother, Robert Deruelle; and sisters, Winnifred Harrison and Charlotte Eichner. Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Colosimo and husband William “Cosmo”; son, Kenneth Wilson and wife Amy; grandchildren, Stacey Hofmann and Justin Wilson and wife Mackenzie; great-grandchildren, Sommur Hofmann, Autumn Bruno and Luke Wilson; a great-great-grandchild, Hudson Hughes; sisters, Lorain Crecenzo and Marjorie Yurcevich; and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her granddogs, Honey, Spence, Gracie, Brutus and Oakley. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at J. WILLIAM MCCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME, 901 Vine St., West Newton. Masks must be worn and social distancing be maintained. The amount of people permitted in the funeral home at once is 40, so please limit your visit out of respect for others.
