Officers from the Monongahela Police Department will now be able to have new tactical vests.

Thanks to a $500 donation Tuesday from Lenzi Service Station, the department now has the necessary matching funds to receive a $6,500 federal grant for the vests.

To receive the grant, the department had to match the federal funds dollar for dollar.

Lenzi Service Station co-owner Erica Lenzi-Puskar handed the donation to Monongahela police Chief Kevin Harris. Also present were Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation President George Eckert, police officer Rocky Henson and Mayor Greg Garry.

“They’ve always been a good supporter of the community,” Harris said of Lenzi Service Station. “We’re very thankful for their generosity.”
