Thomas Stephen Evans Sr. – Long Branch

Thomas Stephen Evans Sr., 58, of Long Branch, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021. Son of the late Thomas D. Evans and Peggy Poprosky Rattay and stepfather Donald Rattay, who survive and reside in Monessen, he was born in North Charleroi on March 23, 1962. Formerly of Monessen, Tom has resided in Long Branch since 1998. A 1980 graduate of Monessen High School, Tom had been a member of Orchard Christian Fellowship Church in Monessen, the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company, former member of both Monessen fire departments and was a former Pennsylvania state constable in Long Branch. The best damn painter in the Valley, Tom was self-employed as a painting contractor for more than 40 years. He enjoyed hunting with his children and his nieces. In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathy Diane Plavko Evans; three sons, Stephen Molek (Adrian Hernandez) of Long Branch, Thomas Evans Jr. (Allyssa Grove) of Monessen and Jacob Evans of Brownsville; two daughters, Ashley (Eric) Selva of Rostraver Township and Marley Evans of Long Branch; a sister, Trudy (Ryan) Speck of Monessen; three brothers, Timothy Evans of Washington, Terrence Evans (Michael Seftas) of Farmington and Tony Evans of Monessen; three grandchildren, Skyla Molek, Audrey Selva and Kathryn Selva; his father in-law, Bernard G. Plavko of Monessen; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his faithful companion, Cairo. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Marie Bogdan, in 1997; maternal grandparents, Steven and Margaret Poprosky; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Evans. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at Orchard Christian Fellowship Church in Monessen. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor John Custer officiating.
