The Monongahela Police Department received a sweet delivery Monday afternoon at City Hall.
As part of its Sweet Sunday Dessert Festival, members of the Washington City Mission delivered 25 boxes of homemade cookies to Chief Kevin Harris and Sergeant Ryan Lenzi to be given to the department’s 25 officers.
Mayor Greg Garry also received two boxes for his staff.
The donation was a small sampling of the 12,000 cookies baked by members of the Wedding Table Cookie Community for the event, which ended Sunday and is the City Mission’s largest fundraiser of the year.
To say thank you to the cookie club, the City Mission gave a certificate of appreciation to club members Karen Radu and Jamie Pikulsky.
“These are the most amazing looking cookies you will ever see,” said the City Mission’s Chief Development Officer Dr. Sally Mounts. “The City Mission thanks you from the bottom of our heart.”
The boxes contained pecan, chocolate chip, sugar and buckeye cookies.
How long will the cookies last at the police department?
“Not long,” Harris said with a smile. “The cookies are delicious.”
