Rostraver Township food truck ordinance under construction

Food trucks will be permitted in Rostraver Township this summer, but the details of the regulation covering those trucks is still being discussed.
At the planning session Wednesday, commissioners discussed where food trucks would be permitted and how long they would be able to stay in one location.
At the end of the lengthy discussion, the majority of the commissioners decided the food trucks should be allowed only in business and industrial areas.
There had been previous discussion about waiving permit fees for fire departments and possibly other nonprofit groups including churches, but then the commissioners realized that most of those entities would be outside of the permitted zones, so the issue was moot.
At the start of the work session, Collinsburg fire Chief Joel Koricich asked the commissioners if they would waive their fee for a food truck to set up at the department this Sunday for a training and community outreach program.
Koricich said the fire department wasn’t charging the food truck anything to set up nor would it be making any money off of the sales.
