Mildred ‘Mutsy’ Kovich LaMendola – Monessen, formerly of Donora
Mildred “Mutsy” Kovich LaMendola, 90, of Monessen, formerly of Donora, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born in Van Voorhis on April 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late George and Rose Kovich. She was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Mutsy loved watching her Pittsburgh Steelers, going to casinos and traveling with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Smith, Ann Zemko, Helen Matey and Mary Goryl; and a brother, Steve Kovich. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Fran LaMendola; a daughter and son in-law, Jeri and Lou Book of Monessen, with whom she resided; a step-grandson, Alan (Ashley) Book of Arizona; step-great-grandchildren, Colton and Riley Book; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. LaMendola was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at the Donora campus of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vicki Ludwick for her compassionate and loving care. To be socially responsible during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, we will continue to limit the attendance to 25 people inside the funeral home at any given time.
