Marilyn Ruth Mular, age 89, of White Oak, died on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021. She was born in McKeesport, on Aug. 17, 1931 and is the daughter of the late John and Mary Hayduk Rice and the wife of the late Joseph Mular. Marilyn was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was a retired elementary education teacher from the McKeesport Area School District. She was a substitute teacher for the McKeesport schools after her retirement as well as a volunteer at St. Angela Merici School. Marilyn was a part-time math teacher for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and a former volunteer Cub Scout leader. She was a current member of St. Angela Merici Church where she was active through the years and a volunteer for the McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center. In her earlier years she was very much interested in the stock market and enjoyed watching it daily. She is survived by her sons, Paul (Joan Takahashi) Mular of San Carlos, Calif., Kenneth Mular from Marina, Calif. and Chris (Christine “Tina”) Mular of Monroeville; grandsons, Ian and Colin Mular; and granddaughter, Jennifer Mular; and her sister, Jacqueline Lescott of Peters Township. In additional to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, John Mular, who died Sept. 10, 2020. A gathering will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. Family and friends are welcome to attend the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Ave., White Oak, PA 15131. Entombment will follow. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to McKeesport Intersection, 115 7th St., McKeesport, PA 15132, or American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515 Northampton, MA 01061. The family and our team members appreciate that all visitors follow the current CDC guidelines including wearing of masks, social distancing and capacity limits.
