The Elizabeth Forward School District brought home national honors from this year’s Virtual National Conference on Digital Convergence.

The district was named the Digital Ecosystem of the Year for its use of technology in education.

“We are so proud of the hard work of our Elizabeth Forward teachers, principals, support staff, students, parents and our school board,” Superintendent Dr. Todd Keruskin said. “Elizabeth Forward School District started this work back in 2017, and this vision has helped educate students during a global pandemic.”

Students in the district are able to move seamlessly from the bricks-and-mortar buildings to the digital classroom, according to Assistant Superintendent Keith Konyk.

He said this wasn’t something the district did in response to COVID-19, but it has made dealing with the pandemic easier.

“There’s a perception that we’re a wealthy district, and we’re not,” Konyk said. “We made some significant sacrifices to make this happen. We love our iPads. They’re really reliable and intuitive. We have seniors who have been using them since they were in second grade.”
