Scott McCafferty, 87, of Speers Hill, passed away on Feb. 15, 2021, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born on Dec. 13, 1933, in Wheeling, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harry R. and Virginia F. McCafferty. He was a 1952 graduate of Charleroi High School and a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, having served his country from 1956-58. He was retired from Columbia Gas Company of Pennsylvania. Scott was Lutheran by faith and had been a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Charleroi for many years. More recently, he had attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charleroi. He was a member of Charleroi-Monongahela Masonic Lodge No. 337 and had served as past master. Scott was an avid sportsman who enjoyed target shooting, hunting and spending many peaceful hours enjoying nature. He was a member of the Charleroi Sportsmen’s Association, the Long Branch Sportsmen’s Association and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Anne Bindi McCafferty; his three children, Tracy (Michael) Ackerman of Bethel Park, Robert McCafferty of Duluth, Ga., and Lisa (Jason) Karner of Bethel Park, as well as his five grandchildren; Alexa, Anthony and Gino Karner; and Jacob and Kylie Ackerman, all of whom held a very special place in his heart. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private and entrusted to SHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave, Charleroi, Pa.
