The Pennsylvania Department of Health will offer one of its latest drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites beginning Sunday in Rostraver Township.
The pop-up site will be in operation for five days, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, at Rostraver Ice Garden, located at Route 51 and Gallitin Road.
The free testing service is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is provided through a state contract with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, funded through a federal grant. No appointment is necessary.
Testing is open to anyone age 3 or older, regardless of the county where they reside. Participants need not show symptoms of COVID-19 in order to be tested.
Officials are encouraging those who arrive for a test to bring a photo ID or insurance card. Registration will be completed at the site.
Results can be expected two to seven days after testing. Those who test positive will receive a phone call from AMI while notice of a negative test will be via a secured PDF emailed by AMI.
Health officials advise those who are tested to self-quarantine while they await their results. Those who live with other people should self-quarantine in a private room and use a private bathroom, if possible.
Anyone else who lives in the residence also should stay at home, pending results of the test.
“While recent decreases in daily positive cases are promising, they don’t negate the need for testing,” Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said.
State data indicates more than 4.9 million Pennsylvanians have received a COVID-19 test, which equates to about 38.4% of the state’s population.
As of Friday, Pennsylvania’s seven-day average of cases was 2,931 per day and the seven-day case count was 20,517. The corresponding numbers in Westmoreland County were 73 cases reported per day and a seven-day count of 509 cases. All of those figures were the lowest they’ve been since Nov. 7.
