George Morgan ‘Bud’ Hughes – Charleroi

Services were held for George Morgan “Bud” Hughes, 96, of Charleroi, who passed away in his sleep on Feb. 13, 2021. Born on Oct. 18, 1924, to the late William and Florence Riley Hughes, he was a lifelong Charleroi resident and was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen. A World War II Navy Veteran, George served and gave freely to his country, community and church. George loved Jesus and was content in the fact that he was going to be with his Lord and Savior. We will all miss our holiday and Sunday dinners with Uncle Bud! George is survived by two nephews and three nieces, Mark Verno of Charleroi, Bill Hughes of Havertown, Pa., Paulette Verno Widing of North Charleroi, Donna Hughes Simmen of Monongahela, and Maryann Moriarity of Pittsburgh; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Interment was Feb. 15, in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, Charleroi. Arrangements were under the care of CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director.
