Before the season even started, Thomas Jefferson coach Dom DeCicco raved about the versatility of his team.

DeCicco lauded that his team didn’t just have talented guards, he had talented bigs and an offense that could fill it up and a defense that could lock down when needed.

No matter how any particular game went, DeCicco knew his team had the adaptability to win in different ways.

On Wednesday, Thomas Jefferson wasn’t able to play its normal, fast-paced style. Mt. Lebanon laboriously and methodically slowed down the pace, turning the game into a bit of defensive slugfest. The Jaguars (14-2), though, were up to the task, locking down on defense and getting enough key buckets to edge out the Blue Devils, 39-35, in nonsection play.
