Brenda Koval – Stockdale

Brenda Koval, 72, of Stockdale, passed away on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at AGH Jefferson Regional Hospital. Born in Monongahela on Jan. 19, 1949, a daughter of the late Harry and Alvena Santina Cummings, Brenda was retired from the former Kmart in Belle Vernon. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Charleroi. Brenda was always a participant in the Relay for Life, worked the election polls and made many gift baskets throughout the years as donations for different causes. She is survived by her husband, John M. Koval; two sons, Shawn Walters of Monongahela and Christopher Koval of Lower Speers; a sister, Kimberly (Keith) Russell of Perryopolis; a brother, Mark A. Cummings of Springdale, Ark.; very close friends, Nina Strangis of Maple Creek, Sherri Strangis of Rostraver Township and Frankie Strangis Jr. of Charleroi; nieces, Dana Meredith, Stephanie and Kimberly; and nephews, Daniel, Matthew and Andrew. She was preceded in death by a son, David A. Walters Koval, in 1973; and an infant brother, Harry Cummings Jr. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation, www.info-komen.org/breastcancer/donations.
