A Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority driver who last worked Sunday has tested positive for COVID-19.
The driver worked the Commuter A route, driving all of the Sunday service. The driver is now following the proper procedures for care.
Any passenger who is concerned about a potential exposure is asked to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and self-monitor for symptoms.
Anyone who begins to exhibit symptoms should contact their health care provider immediately.
The MMVTA last dealt with a driver who tested positive in December. In that case, the positive test came more than a week after the last time the person drove a route.
There are several MMVTA protocols in place to protect riders and employees from the virus. Face masks are required while waiting for a ride and while riding on any MMVTA route.
There are extensive disinfecting cleaning procedures for vehicles and common areas in place, and the authority has installed plexiglass guards for drivers.
Hand-sanitizing stations are also installed onboard vehicles.
Riders are encouraged to practice safe distancing while riding MMVTA vehicles.
The organization is based in Charleroi and its contractor, MV Transportation’s garage, is in Donora.
