Joe L. Schofield passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2021, at his home. He was born Oct. 3, 1936, to the late Joe. L. Schofield and Ida B. Schofield. Joe graduated from Douglass High School in Waco, N.C. He loved wrestling and most of all getting to know his grandchildren. Joe was in the U.S. Armed Forces, Navy, and was discharged with honors. He loved working with cars and outdoor activities, especially cutting grass. His smile was contagious and would light up the world. He loved telling jokes. Joe retired from his job as a porter at Alexandria House in Virginia to come to Pennsylvania to reunite with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Rue Schofield; daughter, Floretta Schofield; son, Michael L. Schofield; brother, Homer Schofield; and sister, Bernice Schofield. He leaves to cherish his memory, son, Earl L. Schofield of McKeesport; daughter, Ida Novella Schofield of McKeesport; three stepdaughters, Valerie Woodberry, Sylvia McCollum and Tonya Martin; two stepsons, Ronnie Woodberry and John Woodberry; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Joe will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Feb. 20, 2021. Services have been entrusted to WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, 724-684-4877, Trudy L. Taylor in charge of arrangements.
