McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko’s office is working to correct a residential municipal service fee billing issue.
“The City of McKeesport has been made aware of municipal service fee billing post card delivery issues between the U.S. Postal Service and our residents,” the mayor’s office said on Facebook. “It is our understanding that a large number of bills for the first quarter of 2021 (due in January) did not make it to McKeesport homeowners.”
City homeowners pay a fixed rate municipal service fee of $75 per quarter, or $300 per year, for garbage/recycling, police and fire services. Senior citizens pay $60 per quarter, or $240 per year. The fee is set during the passage of the annual budget and hasn’t been raised since 2015.
The mayor’s office said residents who did not receive their billing post card should call 412-675-5020, ext. 639, to pay by phone or stop by the service window at McKeesport City Hall between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
“Please be patient as we return your phone calls and correct this issue,” the mayor’s office said. “If this is a customer’s only delinquent quarter, a late fee will not be charged when your payment is processed.
“We truly apologize for this inconvenience.”
