Cecelia W. Walkush Sweitzer – formerly of Belle Vernon

Cecelia W. Walkush Sweitzer, 93, formerly of Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, in Friendswood, Texas. Born March 1, 1927, in Belle Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Heretic Walkush. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Sweitzer was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was a homemaker. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Kathryn Sweitzer of Pittsburgh; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Blasko of Belle Vernon and Celeste and Sonny Amaya of Friendswood, Texas; brother, Melvin “Bucky” Walkush of North Belle Vernon; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sweitzer; two brothers, Carl and Joseph Walkush; nine sisters, Anna Moxin, Helen McCullough, Mary Altieri, Frances Curcio, Irene Gibson, Mildred Ward, Edith Walkush, Augustine Ezolt and an infant sister, Ethel Walkush. Private family visitation was held at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183, followed by funeral Mass at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Crookston Pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Condolences are accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
