Landlords in the borough of New Eagle may soon see stricter enforcement of occupancy permits.
On Wednesday, borough Administrator Kim Koontz said a large majority of landlords in New Eagle aren’t submitting occupancy permits when one of their properties sees a turnover in tenants.
Koontz said that causes problems for the borough.
“It’s out of hand,” she told council members at a workshop meeting.
“We don’t know who is coming in and out of this borough.”
According to Koontz, the borough’s ordinance on occupancy permits requires a landlord to notify the borough within 10 days of a new occupant. The borough charges $10 for an occupancy permit.
