Frazier broke a 39-39 tie 12 seconds into the fourth quarter before pulling away for a 53-44 victory over Monessen in nonsection play Wednesday.
The Commodores (2-6) outscored the Greyhounds (5-3) by a 14-5 margin in the deciding frame. They finished the game on an 8-0 run in the final two minutes after Monessen cut its deficit to 45-44 with 2:26 remaining.
“We did a fantastic job closing it out,” Frazier head coach Winston Shaulis said. “We were a lot calmer under some of the pressure we had and we were starting to get better looks with some of the sets we had in there as well. It was a solid team effort and a solid team win.”
Sophomore Delaney Warnick helped pave the way for Frazier on the offensive end of the floor and on the boards. The 5-11 forward finished with a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds in the victory. She netted 13 of her points in the second half and at one point scored seven straight in the third quarter.
“She has continued to be a big producer for us,” Shaulis said of Warnick, who has been utilized as both a guard and a forward this season. “She is getting her points not only with her shooting and positioning, but with her hustle as well. She’s boxing out, getting boards and with her hustle, she’s running the floor and finding points in transition.”
