Deaconess Harriet Alexander Macklin – Donora

Deaconess Harriet Alexander Macklin was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at the age of 91. She was born in Donora, on May 22, 1929, the daughter of the late Percy Alexander and Leola Phillips and stepfather, Mack Phillips. She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard B. Alexander; one sister, Elaine Carter; one son-in-law, Jim Brinson; and two brothers-in-law, Harry Bennett and Bunny Carter. Harriet was a graduate of Donora High School, Class of 1947. A lifelong member of the St. Paul Baptist Church of Donora, where she served on the Deaconess Board, member of the Original W.E.M.B. Choir and Nurses Board. Before retiring, Harriet was employed by West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, as a CNA, and Sampson Star Elementary School, Carroll Township, as a foster grandparent. She attended Douglas Business School in Monessen. She leaves to cherish her loving memory one son, Gregg, and wife, Lisa Macklin of Donora; three daughters, Alexis Macklin of Donora, Ingrid Macklin of Donora, and Bridgette M. Brinson of Rostraver Township; and one sister, Dolores Bennett of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; two lifelong dear friends, Clotiel Palmer and Marie Blackman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Harriet will be sadly missed, may the work she has done speak for her. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at the St. Paul Baptist Church, 53 South McKean Ave., Donora, where the funeral service will begin at noon. Eulogy will be given by the Pastor Lee A. Haney Sr., Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church, Donora. Interment will be private. Final celebrations are entrusted to MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 CHESS ST., MONONGAHELA, PA 15063, 724-258-6767, marshallmarra@verizon.net. Guest are asked to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines in order to be in compliant with COVID-19 restrictions.
