Allegheny County tops state in vaccines

Pennsylvania has given 795,706 people the first of two COVID-19 vaccination shots, and 191,325 people have received both shots.
Allegheny County is leading the state with the most people who have been fully vaccinated. There have been 58,076 who have received one shot and 21,176 who have received both. The next closest county is Montgomery, where only 11,363 have been fully vaccinated.
In Fayette County, 4,339 have gotten one shot and 2,168 have gotten both.
In Washington County, 9,119 people received one shot and 3,372 people have been given both.
Westmoreland County has gotten one shot into 15,118 arms and 6,244 people have gotten two shots.
The number of new cases continues to trend downward across the state and locally.
On Saturday, there were 5,191 new cases reported for a new total of 839,239. There were 199 new deaths reported for a new total of 21,661.
There are 3,370 patients hospitalized with 695 in an ICU. There are 21% of ICU beds still available statewide. These figures are also trending downward as the number of patients hospitalized was above 5,000 for about a month beginning around the holidays.
