By obits

David G. Boden, 80, of Forward Township, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021. He loved his family, his country and the United States Navy. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after serving 21 years in the Navy. After serving his country, he worked for Westinghouse Advanced Energy Systems Division in Large, then prior to his retirement, he also sold automobiles. In his spare time, he shot trap at the Shaner Sportsmen’s Club and bowled in the Jednota Bowling League (and a few other leagues) at 51 Lanes in Rostraver Township. He was also extremely proud to be a mason at Duquesne-McKeesport Lodge No. 731. Dave was a lifelong avid hunter who enjoyed his time in the outdoors, and when he wasn’t in the woods, he was busy rooting for the Steelers, Pirates or Penguins. Born Sept. 29, 1940, in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Gault Boden of Buena Vista, and husband of the late Andrea L. Lukach Boden, who passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clyde Boden; and his sister, Sue Boden Drescher. He is survived by his son, David G. (Diane) Boden Jr. of Keyser, W.Va.; daughter, Elizabeth J. (Joseph) Michaels of Forward Township; son, Andrew Joel Boden (and his girlfriend Stacy Wolford) of Forward Township; daughter, Jennifer S. (Matthew) Bench of Charleroi; brother, Floyd Randolph Boden of Buena Vista; brother-in-law, Orville Drescher of Coulter; and nine grandchildren, Stephanie Boden Shingler (Jeremy), Reid Boden, Julie Michaels Whitney (Jesse), Joseph and Mary Michaels, Andrew and Maria Boden and Luke and Benjamin Bench. He also had three great-grandchildren, Rosalynn Shingler and Jesse and Geno Whitney, in addition to nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, Elizabeth, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021. In order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. You may be asked to limit your visiting time so that all guests will have an opportunity to pay their respects. The family would like to express its understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A blessing service will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. There will also be a family gathering this summer to remember Dave and the smiles that he brought to all of us. Offer condolences at www.bekavacfuneralhome.com.
