Gladiators conquer Vikings in rout

Through its first four games of the season, South Allegheny displayed occasional inconsistencies on the offensive end of the floor.
When quality shots were taken, things were good. But when the offense went cold for minutes at a time, opposing teams were given opportunities to crawl back.
That wasn’t the case Tuesday night as the Gladiators’ offense clicked in a 63-32 victory over visiting Valley in Section 3-3A play.
“It finally came together tonight for us,” SA head coach Tony DiCenzo said. “We were getting good looks in those first four games, I just think maybe we didn’t have our legs yet and we were knocking off some rust. We’re starting to get reacclimated with the normal flow of the season and I think tonight was our first complete game.”
The brotherly duo of Bryce and Antonio Epps put on a show for the limited crowd in attendance at SA as they combined to score 34 points in the win.
Bryce Epps netted 11 of his game-high 20 points in the first half, while Antonio Epps scored 14 points through just three quarters.
“I’m just glad they’re wearing South Allegheny uniforms,” DiCenzo said with a smile. “They’re very difficult to defend and their styles are a little bit different, but they complement each other real well. They never really get outside of our gameplan or our offense, too. They’re scoring the ball and sharing it with their teammates all within the confines of what we’re trying to do offensively.”
