John P. Yurkovich – Belle Vernon, Washington Township

John P. Yurkovich, 89, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Uniontown Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Uniontown. Born July 8, 1931, in Ellsworth, he was the son of the late Peter and Barbara Yurkovich. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 64 years, Mr. Yurkovich was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Joan of Arc Church in Farmington for many years. He was a retired warehouseman from SuperValu and a veteran of Korea, where he served in the U.S. Army. John was a member of American Legion Post 659 in Belle Vernon and its bocci league, the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus golf league, along with numerous other golf leagues, winning numerous championships. John was also a former scoutmaster for St. Sebastian Boy Scout Troop and enjoyed fishing with his children. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Laratta Yurkovich, to whom he was married 64 1/2 years; son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Teri Yurkovich of Evan, W.Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dr. George Grisnik of South Point; sister-in-law, Marie Nelson of St. Albans, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Brandon Grisnik, Jarred Donahoe and Chad Donahoe; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by eight brothers, Tom, Frank, Pete, Rudy and George Yurkovich and Albert, Alex and Paul Yurkovich in infancy; and six sisters, Agnes Rados, Mary Zoldak, Helen Ross, Katie Brova, Martha Hrutkay and Ann Marenkovich. Private family visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 26, at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183, followed by funeral services with the Rev. Michael Crookston of St. Sebastian Church officiating. Interment with military honors took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
