The Washington County Local Share Account Review Committee has made its official recommendations on which projects should be funded this year.

The committee reviewed grant applications for LSA funding, which is generated through the county’s share of gaming revenues derived from the Meadows Racetrack and Casino, last week and will forward its recommendations to the Washington County Board of Commissioners for approval.

The committee reviewed more than $18 million in funding requests this year from nonprofits, municipalities and municipal authorities across the county this year, but was only allocated $6.6 million in LSA funding to distribute.

The public presentations were held virtually instead of in person due to COVID-19 mitigation efforts, and the committee streamed its meeting to recommend projects for approval Friday.

Several Mon Valley projects were among those forwarded to the commissioners for their consideration.
