Rose C. Gust – Monongahela

Rose C. Gust, 94, of Monongahela, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born July 31, 1926, in Carroll Township, the daughter of Thomas E. and Jennie Bautz Baxter. Rose was a member of First Baptist Church of Monongahela and a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, where she was a past president. She retired from the former Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville, where she was employed as a nurse’s aide for 17 years. Rose is survived by two sons and three daughters, James Gust and wife Sandi of Washington, Janet Gossett of Charleroi, Jerry Gust and wife Lynn of Chambersburg, Joyce Cassarino of Monongahela and Judy Druciak and husband Joseph of Belle Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel James Gust, who died Feb.11, 2008; four brothers, Paul, James, Albert and Tom Baxter; eight sisters, Eugenia Baxter, Martha Frye, Elizabeth Henderson, Bertha Bozovich, Ella Mae Good, Colleen Tosi, Doris Buell and Catherine Liparulo; and a son-in-law, John Gossett. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, with the Rev. Mark Schollaert officiating. Interment will be private in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monongahela. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. In order to be compliant with our state guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, masks MUST be worn, social distancing maintained and only 25 people are permitted in the funeral home at a time.
