Miriam Rumbel Ritchie – Monongahela

Miriam Rumbel Ritchie, 82, of Monongahela, went to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021. She was born in Eldora, Carroll Township, on July 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Leah Stearns Rumbel and James Harry Rumbel. Miriam was a 1956 graduate of Donora High School and a 1974 graduate of California State College. She had been employed as a seamstress and as a social worker. Before becoming disabled, she was a member of the Historical Society, AARP, Rebekah Lodge and the Senior Citizens Showboat Variety Show, all of Monongahela. She had been an active member of First Baptist Church in Monongahela, where she was a choir member and participated in various church ministries. Miriam enjoyed crocheting and working crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She is survived by daughters, Michele Ritchie-Harris and Johnna Lee Gregg; son, Donald Ritchie; grandchildren, Donald Harris IV, Victoria Harris, Cody Gregg, Leanna Gregg, Aleigha Horner Ritchie, Ryan Wells and Christian Dela Cruz Ritchie; great-grandchildren, Shane Toliver, Abigail Smith and Matthew Clark; and brother, Carl Rumbel and wife Joan. She was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald “Arnie” and Raymond Ritchie. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Deacon Fund, 601 W. Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063. Private services were held Jan. 19, 2021, at Belle Vernon Cemetery. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., Monongahela.
