Mila G. Lucero – Fallowfield Township

By obits

Mila G. Lucero, of Fallowfield Township, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 21, 2021. Mila was born in Davao City, Philippines and was known for mysteriously never aging past 29 years young. Mila was known for her beauty, style, class, intelligence and culinary skills. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ateneo de Davao Jesuit University in the Philippines and taught at Saint Vincent College upon first moving to the U.S. She raised her family in Rodgers Manor where she resided for years. She eventually found her calling in real estate and managed three Century 21 offices prior to owning Century 21 M. Lucero and Associates Inc. in Belle Vernon. As a real estate broker/owner, she forged her own path by being one of the first female real estate brokers in the Mon Valley and was consistently a multi-million-dollar producer for Century 21. She was very well known in her community especially by the many families she helped to realize their dreams of home ownership. She was a past president of the Mon Valley Board of Realtors, was a former choir member of Mary Mother of the Church (St. Andrew the Apostle) and was a substitute Spanish teacher at Mon Valley Catholic High School prior to real estate. Mila epitomized the American dream as an immigrant and entrepreneur. She loved traveling to the Philippines to visit relatives and was excellent at preparing Filipino dishes. Her backyard was her oasis as she was an avid and prolific gardener. Her favorite time was Christmas. She loved decorating her home and on Christmas morning would announce each gift for every family member, gleefully saying the name of who it was for and who from, delighting in the yells of the grandchildren as she presided over her annual celebration. Survived by her loving companion Bill Scott, Mila was the daughter of Julian T. Gonzales and Serapia Cabrera Gonzales and was the youngest of nine siblings. Her memory lives on with her four children; Angelique Polakovic, Sonny (Katie) Lucero, Dawn (Joseph) Andreyo and Duane (Jennifer) Lucero; also beloved “Lola” to Kayla and Alyssa Polakovic, Ben and Tatum Lucero, Alexander Charles and Emilia Andreyo and Henry Beckett Lucero. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb.1, 2021, at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi 7th and Washington Ave., Charleroi, Pa. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required inside the church. MASKS MUST BE WORN IN THE FUNERAL HOME AND PLEASE LIMIT YOUR VISIT TO ALLOW OTHERS A CHANCE TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS SAFELY. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
