Marvin Lewis Herren, age 84, of White Oak, died on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021. He was born in Braddock on Nov. 8, 1936, and is the son of the late Oscar and Marie Danielson Peterson. He was employed for many years as a manager in various Thorofare Supermarkets in the produce department. He was a 62-year member of Polaris Lodge No. 375, formerly Aliquippa Lodge, F&AM Masons, where he earned his 32nd degree. He was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, Faith Lutheran Church of White Oak, the Sons of Italy Band and the Postal Workers Band. He loved to play the trumpet, was an avid reader and a historian of museums and trains. He is survived by sons, John Herren of Davie, Fla.; James Herren of Davie, Fla.; Marvin Herren of Pompano Beach, Fla.; daughter, Valerie Mahmoud of White Oak; brother, James Herren of Glassport; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Family and friends will gather from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. There will be a Masonic funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. At 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Ryan officiating. Burial will follow.
