Funeral services were held on Wednesday for Dr. Dennis E. Borodaty, DMD, 73, of Charleroi, Carroll Township, who passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. Born Oct. 17, 1947, in Charleroi, he was the son of the late Alexander and Ruthella Lynn Borodaty. Dennis graduated from Donora High School in 1965 and earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh in 1969. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Pitt Dental School in 1972, where he was selected for the Omicron Kappa Upsilon award and won the Dentsply award. He was also a member of the Delta Sigma Delta fraternity. After dental school, he served for two years as a captain in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Dennis returned home in 1975 to open his dental practice in Monongahela, where he worked until his retirement in August 2010. He served as a board member for many years at the Monongahela Valley YMCA where he received its Mind, Body, Spirit award. He was a member of Nemacolin Country Club, where he loved golfing with friends. In addition to golfing, he was a car enthusiast, especially fond of Corvettes, enjoyed playing cards and liked traveling. Dennis loved to help family and friends with remodeling and home improvement projects. Surviving him are his wife of 52 years, Lana Wall Borodaty; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Lisa Borodaty of Camarillo, Calif; a daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Adam Lorenzi of Mooresville, N.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Raymond Castner of Carroll Township; a niece, Lyndsey Lytle; and seven grandchildren, Amanda, Bradley, Courtney and Abigail Borodaty and Lauren, Sarah and Aaron Lorenzi. Preceding him in death was a brother, Barrett Borodaty. Interment was held in Monongahela Cemetery. MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, was in charge of the arrangements.
