Cora Sue Jones – Smithton

Cora Sue Jones, 76, of Smithton, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. A daughter of the late Robert and Genevieve Hough Poland, she was born in North Charleroi on Sept. 2, 1944. A lifelong resident of the Mon Valley, she was raised in Lynnwood, Belle Vernon, and had resided in Smithton for the past 15 years. Cora was a member of the Bethlehem Temple in Duquesne. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Jones of Dormont and Paulette Poland; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert (Rhonda) Jones Sr. of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Roberta Laugherbaugh of Donora and Louise Krutz of Bethel Park; four grandchildren, Robert Jones Jr., Raven Jones, Ashley Rutherford and Branden Poland; and one great-granddaughter, Ariel Poland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Jones, on Feb. 14, 2015; five sisters, Barbara Panepinto, Patricia Zelenski, Genine Davis, Debbie Sabo and Claudette Smith; and four brothers, Charles, Russell, Terry and Robert Poland. Friends were received Monday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, with the Rev. Levi Downs officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. Face masks are required in the funeral home and social distancing should be practiced. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made to the Bethlehem Temple of Duquesne.
