Dorothy Filicko Maki – Monessen
Dorothy Filicko Maki, 99, of Monessen, died surrounded by loved ones on Jan. 12, 2021, in Delaware, at the home of her nephew, Michael J. Filicko, where she had resided since June. Dorothy was born on Feb. 11, 1921, to the late John Filicko and his wife. Dorothy’s mother died when she was nine months of age, and when her stepmother died Dorothy left Monessen High School to care for her three younger siblings. Dorothy’s love for all of her siblings was constant throughout her life. Upon the passing of her husband, Dorothy taught herself about antiques. She made a living through her passion of acquiring well-made pieces of furniture, musical instruments, clocks, porcelain and glass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilho Maki; and their son, Richard; her sisters, Catherine Wallace, Anne Yost and Helen McGee; and her brothers, John Filicko and Michael Filicko. She is survived by nephews, Michael (Sharon) Filicko of Milton, Del., Russell Jr. (Dian) Yost of Eighty Four and Gary McGee of Warren, Ohio; and nieces, Patricia (Martha) Yost of Yonkers, N.Y., and Janet (Ernest) Montelongo of West Palm Beach, Fla.; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with services following at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at RHOME FUNERAL HOME, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, with the Rev. Dr. Martha Jacobs officiating.
