Interested applicants in a state-wide search for candidates will have three more weeks to apply for a new position in Charleroi.

The application process for the borough manager was re-opened after the job search software used to collect application expired before all applicant information could be collected.

At least eight people had applied for the position, which council decided to introduce after a recommendation from the state through the Strategic Management Planning Program and an auditor.

The last time Charleroi had a borough manager was in 2014. The borough currently operates with a borough administrator and a part-time secretary, who will both remain in their positions.

The borough manager will be responsible for networking on behalf of the borough and grants to bring projects and funding to Charleroi, in addition to lightening the load of the office staff.

The STMP program, which the borough opted in to in 2018, will pay 50% of the position’s costs over three years.

The salary of the job has yet to be determined, but it will be based on qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have a four-year degree in business management, public administration, political science or a related field, five years of experience as an administrator or assistant or a degree in a related field with five years of experience as a full-time municipal manager.
