Donna Lee ‘Nanny’ Thomas – Monessen

Donna Lee “Nanny” Thomas, 78, of Monessen, received her angelic wings on Jan. 4, 2021, at Jefferson Regional Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1942, in Gary, Ind., to the late Samuel Johnson and Violia Fox Johnson. Donna attended North Union High School in Uniontown. She was a homemaker who loved life and the many friends and family who were part of it. She loved football, game shows, gardening, cooking and gambling. Her best achievement in life were her grandchildren. Donna’s smile was contagious, and her personality was endearing. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Gerald Thomas of Pittsburgh, Jeffery D. Thomas of Pittsburgh and Don Lee Thomas of Chicago; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Thomas of New Castle and Hope Marie Thomas of McKees Rocks; three sisters, Norma Thomas of Indiana, Roberta Sanders of Uniontown and Connie Johnson of Indiana; five grandchildren, Donna Lynn Garry of Monessen, Latisha Marie Thomas of Monessen, Gerald Thomas Jr. of Ohio, Jeffery Thomas Jr. of New York and Jeannette Thomas of Chicago; eight great-grandchildren, Diana “Shae” Thomas, Deborah “Nae” Garry, Amari Jamar Jackson, Avantae Lee Ferguson, Aleya Hope Craven, Khamilah Thomas, Ky’rie Thomas and Kyla Irene Gaul; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dolores Wallace and Darlene Johnson; one brother, Samuel Johnson; one daughter, Diana Carlock; and one grandson, James Allen Gaul II. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen. Services will begin at 1 p.m. The eulogy will be given by her nephew, the Rev. Terry Sanders, pastor of the Victory House Ministry in Uniontown. Arrangements are entrusted to the William R. Taylor Funeral Home, Trudy L. Taylor, director in charge, 724-684-4877.
