David Lee Staffen Sr., 72, of Monongahela, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Halcyon Senior Living, Bridgeville. He was born Sept. 14, 1948, in New Eagle, the son of John F. and Hazel M. Fine Staffen III. Dave was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War and earning the rank of Spc4 in the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from U.S. Steel – Irvin Works in Dravosburg, with over 30 years of employment. He was a member of the River Hill Church of Christ and the NRA. Dave enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling and carpentry. He is survived by his son, David L. Staffen II and wife Kasandra and daughter, Amber L. Leezer, all of Monongahela; three grandchildren, Janelle and Kensi Staffen and Alizabeth Leezer; two sisters, Georgeanna Gamble of Maxwell and Clara M. Arp of Tennessee; brother, Edward Staffen and wife Carolynn of Ohio; special friends, Patricia Staffen and David Jones; lifelong friend, Garry Pauley; and beloved cat, Tumbles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, John F. Staffen IV and wife Josie. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, with the Rev. Paul Eisaman officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Monongahela Honor Guard and Firing Squad. In order to be compliant with our state guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, masks MUST be worn, social distancing maintained and only 25 people are permitted in the funeral home at a time. Please limit your visitation time to allow for other family and friends to visit. The family would like to thank you in advance for your understanding.
