Ernest Jackson – North Canton, Ohio, formerly of Monessen

Ernest Jackson, age 80, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020. He was born on Jan. 13, 1940, in Monessen, Pa., son of the late Ernest and Mary Agnes Jackson. He was a medical technician and retired purchasing manager from the North Canton Medical Foundation. Ernest was an avid barbershop harmony singer and director. He was active in the Canton Hall of Fame Chorus, the Mon Valley Chorus in southwest Pennsylvania and sang in many quartets. In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Oliphant; sisters, Edna Shank and Margaret Pontieri; and first wife, Maryann Huttenhour. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughter, Cindy Pelzer of Dunlevy; daughter, Barb (Ron) Noel of West Newton; son, Michael (Dani) Sinko of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Carol (Chris) Sweda of Chicago, Ill.; and grandchildren, Jeramey Pelzer, Christopher Pelzer, Rob (Bianca) Phillip, Zoe Sweda and Milo Sweda. A memorial service will be held at a future date when gathering will be safer. Arrangements handled by REED FUNERAL HOME, North Canton, Ohio.
